12/21/11 Lindsay from Hampton

T- thing you will take away
A- action you plan to take
B- barrier that could cause the
    action to end
B- benefit of seeing it through

T- the thing I took away from lindsays speech is that I should be prepared the summer before we go to college. I thought that was something important because if you slack off during the summer you are going to get overwhelmed when you get to college.

A- the action I plan to take IS to be prepared the summer before, simply because I don't want overwhelmed when I get to college. I want to know what to do and not get there and be clueless.

B- I think the barrier that would cause the action to end would be me procrastinating. I procrastinate all the time and I really need to break that bad habit because I really never get anything done.

12/20/11 Its almost here !

It's five days away and almost here, so cheer up because Christmas is NEAR !

I am so excited for Christmas this year. I get excited every year. It's just fun to wake up and find gifts under the tree in the morning, go eat dinner and spend tome with family and the ones you love. You always have curiosity about what your going to get or if you get anything at all. Its nice to hear the kids talk about what Santa Claus is going to bring them this year. Hearing the Christmas songs all over the radios.

Going shopping and finding gifts for the family is the best part. It's all about giving and making sure everyone is happy, or at least satisfied. It is just a joyful holiday where everyone is supposed to be happy and have fun!

12/19/11 Themis

As I looked down the list of my fellow Themis members, I see the people who have gained us some house points and some who have lost us some house points. Of course I'm not worried about the ones who have gained us house points, I hope they keep up the good work and gain some more. This whole competition between the houses should give these students who are losing points the motivation to go do better in school and try to get as many house points as possible. Now I know that I have lost some house points because of my grades and not blogging like am now, but I regain those by attending things like junior achievement or the black college expo.

Participating in this competition makes you wanna grill the underclassmen about why they aren't gaining points and why they are losing points, but as a senior, I have to think about what my point system looks like before I can judge anyone else's.

10/09/11 Ice cream social

I am involved in the Delta Sigma Theta Sorrority beautillion/coutillian. This year will be the 25 th year. Coutillian is a coming out ball to the society. I am senior deb and along with me are 24 other senior debs/beaus. I decide to be apart of this event in the beginning of the summer. This activity does not just involve a big ball, they various events for us. They have workshops like sat prep and scholarship workshop that would get us ready for college. We have etiquette classes and waltz rehersals with our dads/moms and dates/escorts. We also do fun things like skating and goin dinner theaters. As a girl I had fun picking the dress and shoes I'm going to wear for the ball. We also have to ask for ads which some of that money comes back to me for and the rest of the debs/beaus for scholarship money........ Today I attended the ice cream social (another event they had for us) it was sponsored by the junior debs/beaus. Basically the senior and junior debs/beaus had an event together (which isn't normal) where we all just socialized. The senior debs/beaus got to know a little more about the junior debs/beaus because we haven't had any events together. The experience was nice and all of the juniors seem to be nice well rounded people and right for this years ball.

9/13/11 Lady Titans

Today was an exciting day for the New Town Varsity girl’s soccer team. Today was the first game of the season. Everyone had on their new uniforms the coaches bought for us and we looked like a team. Everybody on the team gets along just like we should, and as the saying goes "there's no I in TEAM"…. We were all ready for the last bell to end our day so we could get to our game.  It was bright and sunny outside, just the right weather for a soccer game. Okay it was a little hot but we got through it. We were playing against Sparrows Point, we have never played against them before but we heard that they are pretty good team. In the beginning of the game two of my team mates shot the first 2 goals, which was very exciting for us considering our record from last year. Sparrows Point was not having it, they were shooting goal after goal. We tried our hardest to get more goals but we ended up unsuccessful. The score ended 9-2 Sparrows Point as the winning team. We really didn't care too much about the score because it was our first game and every single player on the field played their hardest.

9/10/11 AVID Induction Bio

Kendyl has been part of the AVID odyssey since her 9th grade year. Coming into a rigorous class like AVID has helped her prepare for her college career. During her 9th through 11th grade school years she has learned a copious amount of vocabulary words, and the study skills needed to prepare for the SAT. As a student of New Town High School, Kendyl has participated in various sports and extra-curricular activities. She has played on the girl’s varsity soccer team since her freshman year. During her sophomore year she was the manager for the girl’s varsity basketball team. In her junior year Kendyl joined the Student Government Association (SGA) and the winter varsity cheer leading team, which she plans to continue during her senior year. In preparation for college, Kendyl has selected to take an arduous schedule of courses including: AP Psychology, Honors Physics, English U.S History, AP Human Geography and AP Environmental Science (APES). AVID has pushed her to apply for colleges and scholarships, making her a college bound student. After her high school career she plans to study nursing to become a pediatric nurse. Kendyl plans to apply to Xavier University of Louisiana, Hampton University, North Carolina Central University and Howard University.

9/11/11 Marking 10 years of A Sad Tragedy

Today marks the 10th year of 9/11. Ten years ago I was a 6 year old 1st grader. I remember being in class, then all of a sudden I hear the principal get on the intercom telling all the classes to go to the multi-purpose room. As we were all walking to the room we were wondering what was going on. When we got in the room the principal turned on the TV and tuned in to the news. I remember watching the first building burning as the new casters were telling us a plane has hit the World Trade Center. We all watched in amazement. Then a few minutes went by and we watched as the second plane hit the next building and they announced it as a terrorist attack. I started to get scared because my dad was working for the government at the time. I watched as the buildings started burning and collapsing and all I could about is if BOTH of my parents were alright. When my parents came to pick us up I felt a sense of relief, but I still worried about my other family members that worked for the government. Everyone was alright but this tragedy made me appreciate the things have in life. People lost their spouses, children, close friends and loved ones and they have been missed very much over the past ten years. I continue to pray for the families of the innocent victims of 9/11 and hope they remember the good times they had with their loved ones.

9/7/11

There are always going to be some good days and there will always be one or two bad days, but today is just a very SAD day. Today was going to be our first soccer game, but due to the weather it was canceled. Everyone on the team was excited to be able to actually play a game after very long practices during the summer. Cant wait for our first game, it will be bitter sweet because it will be my last first soccer game in high school.

SENIOR 2012 !!!!
